Before this site, there was another one.
It looked like an engraving from 1850: brass lines, old paper, very fancy. It was also a puzzle box. To get anywhere you had to read closely, decode things and carry clues from page to page. Some people loved it. Most people had no idea what was going on.
So we built this one for everybody. But we didn't throw the old one away.
It's in the basement
Scroll all the way to the bottom of the home page and you'll reach the Basement. Down there, past the button you definitely shouldn't press, is an old door covered in engravings. It's locked.
The plaque on it says: Forged, not found.
That's all we're going to say. Pivot wanted to say more. We had to hold him back.
Fair warning
Behind the door is the original site, kept just as it was. That means:
- Real puzzles. Not "poke it and see" puzzles. Ciphers to decode and clues to carry from page to page.
- No Pivot. He's not allowed in there. Too many sharp edges, and he's pointy enough already.
- A different pace. The Old Foundry doesn't hold your hand. It expects you to read, think and take notes.
If you like that sort of thing, you're going to love it. If you don't, that's completely fine: everything else on this site is made to be played with, not solved.
Opening the door is one of the four big hunts, and it drops a Spark in your jar. Everything on the other side is just for the glory.
Good luck down there. Bring a pencil.
